Company leaders today have been faced with unprecedented challenges since the beginning of the pandemic. They still need their staff to perform the same level of work as pre-pandemic. Yet they are short-staffed, due to many reasons, including what has been deemed, The Great Resignation.
I recognized that leaders and their teams were facing three issues: Hiring, Retaining, and Engaging their staff, so I developed this survey to define the key issues businesses are facing. By applying my understanding of these issues, I decided to develop programs that provide ways to resolve these issues.
Methodology:
- The survey was conducted with 36 companies. Despite the small sample size, Dale was still able to gain insight on some intriguing tendencies.
- The survey was geared toward “employees and/or contractors”, which is defined as “teammates”.
- The companies ranged from solopreneurs, medium (100+teammates) & 1 large company (over 2,000 teammates).
- The companies who participated were not from any specific industry or location.
It was noted that the size of the company impacted how the “teammates” responded; the survey results show that the differences were very noticeable.
Over the next few months, I will be sharing the survey results and conclusions for these 4 critical areas:
- Hiring
- Finding the right hire was considered highly important, especially in larger companies
- Several key skills were identified as significant for finding the best hire
- Retaining
- Keeping employees was very important to most of the respondents
- Several factors that lend to work satisfaction, were consistently identified by the respondents
- Engaging
- Encouraging employees to be involved was deemed important to most respondents
- Several engagement factors were acknowledged as important to the respondents
- Other challenges & summary-
- The responses from my survey were so varied that it was hard to make any broad conclusions.
- Coaching teams can help improve team performance.
