Civil Grace Giver

Are you one?

Over the last few weeks, I have had several moments in time that have reminded me that I really do want to be a “civil grace giver”.

A week or so ago at my church, the sermon was one of those moments. To be able to be a Civil Grace Giver I believe that you will need to have charity (similar to grace), civility, and clarity.

Social media has many pros and cons. One of the cons I believe is that we say things that we would never say if we were face-to-face with someone. As Christians, we are called to love God and love others as ourselves. I would submit that if we did that just a little bit better, then the world could be such a different place.

There are going to be people that you do not agree with, but that is not the question. The question is, how will you communicate with them in a way that points to Jesus? Will you use kind words and listen to understand?

When you are posting on social media I would challenge you to pray before you respond to any post and especially when you are responding to someone that doesn’t agree with you. May our responses be a sweet fragrance and draw people to community and connection while pointing them to Jesus.

Your homework this week will be to rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 to see where you are at now. Then you can take a moment to engage in a way that will be helpful.

Next week I will be sharing two podcasts with you from https://followerofone.org/ and share a little more insight about how we can become a Civil Grace Giver.

As always, if I can help you with anything, I would love to connect.
